Wolves News 24/7
The New Wolves
For those of you who remember Wolves past and reminisce about our beloved team and still long for the glory years of the 40’s to 70’s well pine no longer because it might well be that those wonderful times are again just around the corner.
Managers are employed to get the best out of their players, as did Buckley, Cullis, Allen and McGarry, but they also need something to work on and build off. With the help of Fosun it looks like we have the foundations of a very promising team fit to grace the Golden Palace. The major difference nowadays is of course the money that flows in from Sky which enables the very best players in the world to be enticed to our shores.
Whereas in the early aforementioned years a large proportion of the team were local, from such exotic places as Willenhall, Bilston, Shropshire and of course the rest of our beloved black country. Nowadays when they talk about home grown players it only tends to mean that they have come through the youth system and in fact could well be from any area of the UK if not abroad. But this is what is now needed to be a top team in the premier league, foreign players and indeed those at the very top of their game. Instead of the likes of Thompson, Showell, Clamp, Wright, Bull etc it’s now Costa, Jimenez, Cutrone, Boly, players from all corners of the world.
But there’s no doubting the excitement, the sheer delight when the ball hits the back of the net and the crowd erupts. It’s the same old feeling as it was 60 years ago. It’s the same old fans that shouted their lungs out, it’s the same old colours and it’s the same old Molineux, albeit somewhat more modern, it’s only the players and management staff that have changed. And quite rightly we have taken them to our hearts because they wear the beloved gold and black and represent Wolverhampton Wanderers, the finest team in the land!
We are looking for people to write articles and report on the Wolves matches.
